Dressed in typical Zouave fashion,the Maryland Guard Zouaves had a chequered career:originally Company 'H' of the 47th Virginia Infantry,they became 'E' of the 2nd Maryland Infantry.
Serving at First Bull Run and Gettysburg,they formed part of Brigadier-General George H.'Maryland' Steuart's Brigade
